Residential Counselors Part-Time Nights and Weekends:

Provides counseling/social work services to residential clients and their children, including crisis intervention, shelter admissions, residential case management, shelter departures, and case file closure.

  • Maintains current and accurate records of client interviews, keeping all forms and records of clients up-to-date and in compliance with funding requirements.
  • Assists in resolving conflicts between shelter residents and staff as needed.
  • Maintains contact and develops good working relationships with other agencies which may be in contact with ACT clients.
  • Provide individual and group counseling with clients.
  • Answer hotline providing safety planning and information and referrals.
  • Provide safety planning with clients staying in shelter.
  • Assist clients with setting goals and housing issues.
  • Assists with updating of referrals on a yearly basis.
  • Provide case management for client base.
  • Attend monthly department and staff meetings as requested.

EDUCATION – TRAINING – EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four year college or university; or two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of psychological and sociological aspects of victimization and knowledge of community resources. Experience working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and the new and temporarily homeless. Ability to convey sensitivity to victims.

 SEXUAL ASSAULT NURSE EXAMINERS

To provide forensic evidence exams, follow-up and medical care to victims of sexual assault includes on-call and forensic work.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITI1ES:

Provides evidence collection, documentation and medical care to adult victims of sexual assault, following the State of Florida Office of the Attorney General’s current Sexual Assault Examination Protocol and protocols provided by Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc.

When requested, performs complete physical examinations on adults of all ages and provides adequate and appropriate documentation of injuries.

Responds to provide exams within 1.5 hours or as soon as possible.

Serve as an expert witness.

Provides consistent services according to the protocols of the Office of the Attorney General and Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc.

Keep current with the advancing fields of forensics as it relates to rape forensic exams.

Reviews evidence collection and medical care policies and procedures and makes suggestions to the Chief Executive Officer when changes are appropriate.

Ensures all medical supplies needed are requested in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION-TRAINING-EXPERIENCE:

Licensed in the State of Florida to practice as a Registered Nurse.

SKILLS-ABILITIES:

Ability to document injuries skillfully. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, ACT clients, law enforcement, doctors offices, hospitals, the judicial system, and all outside agencies. Ability to work independently of supervision and as a team member.  Ability to use computer systems and other office equipment. Ability for working hours to be flexible.
