Sexual Assault Services Outreach Counselors

Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. is now interviewing a bi-lingual Sexual Assault Outreach Services Counselor. These positions are full-time working in Lee County.

The Sexual Assault Services Outreach Counselors will provide crisis intervention, individual, family and group counseling; enrichment, case management, advocacy and other related services to victims of sexual assault both primary and secondary victims.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1.      Providing individual and group counseling for victims of sexual violence/assault.

2.      Advocate for victims of sexual violence and their families with law enforcement and other professionals as needed.

3.       Assist survivors and their families with follow-up counseling.

4.      Assist survivors and their families with necessary information and referrals.

5.      Works with staff in identifying gaps in services and formulates specific interventions to address concerns.

6.      Provide case management for clients.

7.       Attends all monthly department and staff meetings.

8.      Provide information and assistance with filing compensation claims.

9.      Maintains appropriate records and reports in accordance with the policies and procedures of Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc., funding sources and as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to give and receive information and ideas clearly and accurately whether in writing or verbally. Includes written communications such as reports, letters, memoranda, forms and verbal explanations of policies, procedures and techniques to volunteers and staff.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to plan ahead and set realistic goals, objectives and priorities; anticipate possible problems; commit activities to a realistic but challenging schedule.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of psychological and sociological aspects of victimization. Clinical expertise in emergency psychology, theory and practice of group psychotherapy, and a systems approach to supervision and management.

Prior experience working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and the new and temporarily homeless. Ability to convey sensitivity to victims.

Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, ACT clients and the general public.

Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as a cooperative member of a team.

Bachelors degree (BA) in mental health or counseling/social work-related fields: and one year or more of experience. Experience to include:

One year or more of direct contact work with victims in the form of advocacy.

Grant Writer –

Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, writing or similar field.  Knowledge of non-profit and communities.  Outstanding grammar and research skills are essential for this position.

Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals.

  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for grants from federal, to state, corporate and foundation grants.
  • Work with Chief Executive Officer to gather information necessary to report to funders on current grant programs.
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required.
  • Understanding of agency history and programs.
  • Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
  • Track statistics relevant to grants.

ADVANCED REGISTERED NURSE PRACTITIONER

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner – Full and Part Time  – Hendry County

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITI1ES:

  1. Provides evidence collection and medical care to adult victims of sexual assault, following the State of Florida Office of the Attorney General’s current Sexual Assault Examination Protocol and protocols provided by Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc.
  2. When requested, performs complete physical examinations on adults of all ages and provides adequate and appropriate documentation of injuries.
  3. Responds to provide exams within one hour or as soon as possible.
  4. Provides follow-up medical examinations and testing and makes appropriate referrals.
  5.  Serve as an expert witness.
  6. Provides consistent nurse practitioner services according to the protocols of the Office of the Attorney General and Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc.
  7. Keep current with the advancing fields of forensics as it relates to rape forensic exams.
  8. Reviews evidence collection and medical care policies and procedures and makes suggestions to the Executive Director when changes are appropriate.
  9. Insures all medical supplies needed are requested in a timely manner.
  10. Attends monthly staff and department meetings.
  11. Keeps current of all training requirements.
