Volunteers

ACT is always in need of volunteers. With more volunteers, we are able to provide more dollars toward direct services that support victims. Volunteers can help at our Second ACT Thrift Store, our Arts for ACT Art Gallery, or in our various departments, including direct service with clients. Below is a list of our ongoing needs.

Second ACT Thrift Store: Located at 12519 South Cleveland Ave. Fort Myers 33907  Hours of Operation are Monday-Saturday 9am-8pm, Sunday 11am-5pm. Volunteers sort and display donated items, keep the store organized and assist shoppers.

Community Education: ACT maintains a presence in the community by taking part in several community events throughout the year. These range from health fairs to major fundraising galas. Volunteers assist by selling raffle tickets, parking cars, and a variety of other tasks.

Tabling at events is an opportunity for community members of all ages to learn about the services that ACT provides. Volunteers attend an ACT Services training to prepare them to answer questions and share valuable information.

Office Support: Volunteers assist with making information packets, filing, event preparation and answering phones.

On-Call Crisis Team: This team is made up of individuals who can commit to at least a year of service. Volunteers sign up for 12 hour shifts and are called to advocate when survivors of sexual assault come in for a rape exam. These volunteers must have reliable transportation, attend 60+ hours of training, and pass a background check and drug test.

Counseling Internships: Internships are available for Masters level students seeking a degree in mental health counseling.

Children’s Program: Volunteers assist with homework, engage children in activities during group or on days when there is no school
